Airline accidents and catastrophes are glaring reminders about aviation safety. On the Internet, a myriad of Web sites are committed to keeping pilots informed about new safety guidelines and practices. Below are three national organizations, advocating airline safety and accident prevention, to bookmark.

Aviation Safety Resources and Links

Aircraft Owners Pilots Association (AOPA)

The AOPA  is a philanthropic advocacy foundation, providing a wealth of services: information, fund-raising services as well as the promotion of aviation safety awareness, and an extensive list of other aeronautical resources.

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)

The FAA is a government-sponsored association, acting as the watchdog, policymaker and resource for safe aircraft operations.

Flight Safety Foundation

Flight Safety Foundation serves flight crewmembers manufacturers, air carriers, aviation regulatory agencies, vendors, and maintenance organizations with information, ideas and tactics to assure safety.

Oshkosh AirVenture Events

In Oshkosh, Wisconsin, an epic aviation event takes flight on July 27, 2009 through August 2, 2009. Some 800 exhibitors will showcase a 5.2-mile stretch of aairhawk-booth_oshkosh_web2ircrafts, antique classics, war-birds, ultra-lights, rotorcrafts and more. Each year, the extravaganza attracts pilots, enthusiasts and families from all over the world

The festivities are abounding. Attendees can expect 2,500 show aircrafts. The Learn to Fly Center is the ultimate destination for visitors who want to learn to fly.  Aviation leaders, aircraft engineers and NASA researchers will host 500 forums throughout the week. For children and the young at heart, there’s so much to discover at the KidVenture expo, where hands-on training includes flying simulators, building gliders or rockets. Daily air shows soar the skies at 3:30 PM.
